It is well known that mercury is a toxic heavy metal which is detrimental to one’s health. However, there are still many people walking around with mercury-contained dental fillings. Commonly known as amalgam fillings, mercury-contained fillings are typically 50% mercury, joined with silver, copper and tin. With the potential harmful side-effects of mercury, many are advised to switch to Resin – Composite (white) fillings which are a safer option, and more appealing since they blend with the natural color of your teeth. Additionally, composites require less removal of tooth structure. Invisalign takes a modern approach to straightening your teeth; using a custom-made series of aligners, custom-tailored to your particular smile. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable, and virtually invisible plastic that you simply wear over your teeth. They will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place. The advantage of the Invisalign process is that most people won’t even know you’re wearing them because of how clear and discreet they are versus noticeable metal brackets on traditional braces.
